Wanderlust Wednesday: Nicaragua

Wanderlust Wednesday is a series where I share a photo and memory from a past travel adventure. This week, I’m looking back at Nicaragua.

In 2014, while staying at a resort in Costa Rica’s Gulf of Papagayo we had the opportunity to take a one-day trip to Nicaragua. Always keen to get new stamps in our passports, we jumped at the opportunity.

Mid-way through our trip, after a couple of days of relaxing and lounging, we were up at 4:30 AM and on our way to Nicaragua. The day was long and we spent more time on the bus than we did exploring, but it was totally worth it when we arrived in Granada and spent an hour or so exploring expansive Lago Nicaragua.

Surrounded by luscious forests of palm trees, and beautiful and spacious homes, touring around Lago Nicaragua made it feel like we’d been transported back in time, to a whole different place.
